3rd Annual Black History Poetry Slam and March In-Person Event

On March 12, the DPSCD Virtual School community held another lively in-person event that allowed students to blend learning with creativity and celebration.  Students participated in a Black History Poetry Slam, where they shared original poems and songs that reflected on Black history, culture, and identity.  The event created a space for students to express themselves, support one another, and engage with important historical themes through spoken word.  Performances were met with enthusiastic applause (and snapping!) as students confidently took the stage and shared their voices with their peers.

The day also included celebrations for Pi Day and March Madness.  Several students had the opportunity to smash a whipped cream pie in the faces of three of their teachers (Mr. Bliss, Mr. Hill, and Mrs. K), as well as their beloved principal, Mr. Lake!  They were also able to participate in a basketball challenge in celebration of March Madness.  The event brought together students from across the school and across grade bands in a positive and engaging environment.  It was a great opportunity to celebrate culture, academics, and community while giving students a chance to showcase their talents and enthusiasm.  The Virtual Victors truly do win at ALL levels!
